Résumé: The present extended essay endeavors to investigate linguistic accommodation among Sidi Abdellie’s female commuters in Tlemcen community. Subsequently, its main objective is to gauge the motives behind such accommodative mechanism and the characteristics of Tlemcen speech repertoire that the females adopt in their discourse. The descriptive design of the present case study has adhered to a mixed methods approach in collecting and analysing data obtained via a structured participant observation and a questionnaire administered to forty informants who commute to work and have linguistic friction with the Tlemcen dialect for more than five years. The sample was selected based on probability sampling from distinct backgrounds to guarantee an objective and scientific dimension. The research findings have unraveled that linguistic accommodation does exist to a relative rate, and that the primary stimulus that incites the informants to recourse to linguistic accommodation is to minimise social distance via the adoption of an exclusive Tlemcen speech repertoire.
