Résumé: Dystopian fiction secured its ground in the world of literature. This research, applying a moral philosophical approach, is designed to examine the elements that shape a dystopian novel which includes the different forms of discipline that a government uses over the body and mind of the citizens. The work focuses on how the dystopian genre contributed vigorously to the moral standards of the real world, touching on issues of reality and the fabric of a destroyed society with the urge to survive. The theoretical part outlines the elements of the dystopian fiction that authors use to shape the plot of their stories. The theory will then be implied to Suzanne Collins’ The Hunger games (2008) as a case study. In her book, Collins pictures a society that is under full control of a ruling state. Primarily focusing on the protagonist Katniss Everdeen and her role to run against the system of inequality and call for a change.
