Résumé: | This research is an attempt to investigate the relationship between language, imagination, and Maladaptive Daydreaming Disorder. After immense readings on said variables, the researchers were able to limit the scope to two major concerns, the linguistic behaviour of adult MDers in MDs, and the impact of multilingualism on MD. The purpose was to put forward a stable ground for a theory to emerge, through studying a specific sample. They used the semi-structured questionnaire and semi-structured interview as well as other tools such as memoing and journaling. The analysis and interpretation of the data allowed for grounded hypothesis to emerge; MDs are tacit projections of multilingualism through in terms of choice, impact, association with content, and mastery, which renders daydreaming maladaptive through increasing the rate of daydreams and imaginative skills. Other interesting results involved unraveling the universal attitude towards English. It is recommended to assess these results through quantitative extensive research to provide more insights on the mechanism of this relationship. |
