Language attitude influences a learner’s success or struggle in language acquisition. This study examines the attitudes of first, second, and third-year English students towards learning French in the English department. Data was collected through student questionnaires, matched guise technique questionnaires, and interviews with French teachers. Results show that students generally have a negative attitude towards the French language, influenced by perceived difficulty, lack of relevance, a poor education system, and the influence of technology and media.en_US
